Roorkee is a small town located in the foothills of Himalayas in the beautiful state of Uttrakhand. Part of district Haridwar, Roorkee is the gateway to this pilgrim centre as well as Rishikesh, Badrinath and Kedarnath, and tourist attractions of Dehradun and Mussoorie. The town is situated on NH-58 (Delhi-Haridwar) as well as on NH-73 (Haridwar-Panchkula). It is at a easy drivable distance of 175 kms from Delhi.

Roorkee is a host to many prominent institutions and organizations. The city has contributed to the national development by producing the finest quality engineers from the renowned Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. It is also the home of various government research institutes as Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Irrigation Research Institute (IRI) and the National Institute Of Hydrology (NIH). It also has an army base of Bengal Engineering Group & Centre (BEG&C).

PLACES OF INTEREST: 

 Piran Kaliyar Sharif (17 kms): Also referred to as 'Sabir paak' is the ‘Mazaar’ of Hazrat Alladdin Ali Ahmed 'Sabir'’, a respected 13th century Sufi saint. This sacred shrine is honored by followers of every religion as it is famed for healing the devotees by mystical powers.
Sidheshwar Shiv Mandir (11 kms): The 150 year old temple is considered sacred by the local people. Built in 1870, the Mai Ji Mandir is known to have been constructed by a sanyasini who got the land as donation from the Rajput chieftains.

IIT Roorkee (10 kms): Famed as the oldest technical institute of Asia, IIT Roorkee was constituted in 1847 to train students for the construction of the Ganga Canal. Today it ranks amongst the best technological institutions in the world and has contributed to all sectors of technological development.

Crystal Water Park (15 kms): Situated in Haridwar, Crystal Water Park is an ideal place to enjoy water sports and fun rides.

Har Ki Pauri: (28 kms): ‘Stairway of The Gods” ,Situated in Haridwar, Har Ki Pauri was Built by King Vikramaditya in memory of his brother, this Ghat is the most sacred to Hindus & is also known as ‘Brahma Kund. The Foot Print of Lord Hari can be found here. The Ghat is considered extremely sacred for a dip during the Ardh & Maha Kumb Festivals.
