Tipu Sultan's Fort and Palace: Built in 1791 it is a beautiful two-storeyed ornate wooden structure with exquisitely carved pillars, arches and balconies. It now houses a museum that contains artifacts relating to the Hyder-Tipu regime.

Museums: The Government Museum of Bangalore is one of India's oldest museums and the Visvesvaraya Technological and Industrial Museum are important museums within the city.

Lal Bagh, botanical garden: It was commissioned by Hyder Ali in the year 1760. The 240-acre park is home to over 1000 species of flora and a Glass House. The park is known for its annual flower show. The garden surrounds one of the towers erected by the founder of Bangalore, Kempe GowdaI. The Lal Bagh Rock which dates back to 3000 million years is another attraction.
